Americans speak of Sugar Face, when the skin is shiny and impure due to binge eating. Purifying but gentle treatments are needed to rebalance it.
To ensure that the well-being of our skin corresponds to the sense of inner relaxation we have acquired, especially after the excesses of the festive season, we must necessarily embark on a detox course. All it takes is a few daily gestures and within a week, your complexion will once again shine in its own light and you will no longer need concealer to hide a few pimples.
Skincare detox: first step – back to good habits
The skin is an excretory organ, just like the liver: in fact, one of its tasks is to eliminate every useless substance that we ingest by eating, drinking, breathing. Junk food, industrially produced sweets, cold meats and cheeses. These are just some of the foods containing saturated and hydrogenated fats that our bodies could do without (our sweet tooth could not!). The epidermis is also affected by festive binge eating and shows us this in many ways: it is shiny, with skin redness, blackheads and pimples. So the first advice we give you, before talking about Skincare Detox, is to return immediately to a healthy and regular diet: favour a diet rich in wholegrain cereals, fruit and vegetables, pulses and yoghurt; drink lots and lots of water – perhaps in the form of herbal teas or waters flavoured with lemon, ginger or mint.
Skincare detox: cleanse your skin gently
A few pimples on the face do not justify cleansing the face too aggressively. In order to restore the skin to its most naturally moisturised state, it needs to be cleansed and managed as if it were a fine fabric. Especially now that cold weather and temperature changes tend to dry it out more. So don’t abuse chemical cleansers, liquid soaps, beauty routines with too many steps and bubble baths that you pass directly over your face in the shower. Prefer natural cleansers that respect the normal balance of skin secretions. Basic in protecting your skin. Skincare detox: Yes to masks and facial scrubs, but without exaggeration
Skin care should not be an occasional treatment, but a constant routine. Once a week it is therefore a good idea to proceed with a regenerating treatment in three stages: the first is to prepare the skin by means of a natural, gentle scrub to remove dead cells.
The second phase includes a draining massage, and finally we move on to the face mask or night mask for a regenerating action. For the former, we recommend choosing the one that suits you best, while for the night mask we recommend one with naturally detoxifying products, such as Yuzu-C Beauty from Shiseido’s Waso line.
Skincare detox: the real meaning
Detoxifying means getting rid of harmful substances. There is no need to ‘dig’ too deep. But sometimes all it takes is small daily actions or ingredients that stimulate the microcirculation such as caffeine or matcha tea. As far as purifying masks are concerned, charcoal and bamboo masks are effective and at the same time gentle.
Skincare detox: the extra advice
Exercising for 20 minutes in the morning can certainly help you with cleansing, while in the evening, carve out 10 minutes in front of the mirror to pamper your skin. You don’t have to be lazy!
To celebrate this year, you need to shine. And there are certainly many ways to do it: your smile, your Prince Charming would say, or a sparkling outfit, your favourite dress shop would say. Sequins, rhinestones and glitter … Absolutely, but why not add an extra touch with make-up?
